 Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a breathing disorder that occurs when you sleep, interrupting your breath each night preventing restorative sleep. OSA is caused by soft tissue narrowing and closing the airway. The collapsing airway may decrease the airflow to the lung and reduce the oxygen levels in the blood.
The Sleep Screening Device measures breathing cessation events by hour and by total nightly events giving the physician objective data to determine the next step in diagnosis.
The Home Sleep Test is used to determine if you have OSA. HST is an overnight study performed in the comfort of your own home. The patient is instructed in the use and set-up of the recording device and completes the test at home. The device is the size of a cellular phone, easily set-up prior to lights out, and records data while you sleep. The three sensors include a nasal cannula for airflow, a chest belt for breathing effort, and a finger clip to measure heart rate and oxygen levels.
